Most of us have seen the TV show, The Biggest Loser, at least once. A group of overweight people are chosen to live at a ranch and compete on who loses the most weight. It seems skeptical to have a competition on something so personal, but The Biggest Loser took off and spawned a diet plan that individuals everywhere are now following.

Anyone who has watched The Biggest Loser knows that the participants have a lot of weight to lose. The individuals lose an amazing amount of weight during the show by following supervised eating and exercise plans. The exercise routines are rigorous but the challenge seems to be a popular part of the show.

The Biggest Loser Club may have begun as a reality TV show but the basis is sound. A professional trainer supervises all of the participants on The Biggest Loser. If you choose to follow this diet plan, you won't be provided a personal trainer by The Biggest Loser but you do have access to professional advice on the Biggest Loser Clubs website.

Members of The Biggest Loser Club start out by setting their goals. The eating plan is tailored to that persons unique needs by providing personal information. Information is then provided on how to manage their eating plan.

Preparing your own meals is stressed with The Biggest Loser Club just like on the show. Snacking is encouraged but the snacks are not your everyday ones. Snacks and desserts are prepared using healthy ingredients. Some of the foods may be new to you but they have to be better than the unhealthy ones most people usually grab as snacks.

Members of The Biggest Loser Club can substitute their favorite foods for instance, by using ground turkey instead of beef when preparing spaghetti. A bit of creativity can keep you eating foods you like without all the extra calories.

Exercise is important to The Biggest Loser. I agree that without physical activity, the weight won't budge. But one problem I see with The Biggest Loser Club is that most of these members haven't exercised in years and while the TV program starts off with heavy exercise sessions prescribed by trainers, most people won't have a trainer supervising them but may try to imitate The Biggest Loser show by initially jumping into a heavy exercise program which could lead to burn out or even injury.

The Biggest Loser website does offer suggestions for exercise but please consult your doctor before doing any exercise.

It may also be worthy to mention that you probably shouldn't join The Biggest Loser Club expecting to lose as much weight as fast as they do on TV unless you are a TV show participant.

An affordable alternative to The Biggest Loser has recently been released. It is not a fad diet but a customizable healthy plan in which 98% of users lost weight in 12 days during its study. Learn about it here http://www.effectiveweightlossguide.com/art.html
